Aid Industry Aids in Distributing 1 Million Meals through ASI Food Bank Charity
In an outstanding display of generosity, the Advertising Specialty Institute (ASI) and the promotional products industry have come together to provide over 1 million meals to those in need.
The fundraising drive, part of the #ASIcares programme, began on May 12, 2020, and saw numerous companies making cash contributions to local food banks and pantries. Notable contributors included AIM Smarter (asi/522700), ePromos Promotional Products (asi/188515), FORMost Graphic Communications (asi/196369), Summit Group (asi/339116), Harper + Scott (asi/220052), Storm Creek (asi/89879), Doing Good Works (asi/222095), Roaring Moose (asi/309241), and The Hat Source (asi/221987).
ASI pledged to match every dollar donated, up to $50,000, and the industry's overall donations, including ASI's match, exceeded the original goal of $100,000 by raising $50,210. Several promo companies also organized employee fund drives to contribute larger donations for hunger-relief efforts.
The fund drive resulted in over $150,000 in total donations, which ASI donated to Feeding America, the largest domestic hunger-relief organization in the U.S. Feeding America works to rescue food before it's wasted, and every dollar donated helps secure and distribute at least 12 pounds of food, equivalent to 10 meals, to people facing hunger.
ASI President and Chief Executive Officer Timothy M. Andrews extended the fund drive's end date from June 30 to July 6, and the annual ASI Counselor Awards will acknowledge the donors on July 22, 2020, at 5 p.m. E.T. All participating donors will be named to the Bess Cohn Humanitarian Society.
Major organizations involved in the #ASIcares hunger relief fundraising programme included the Asian American Foundation (TAAF), which raised over $1 million in donations. ASI Chairman Norman Cohn stated that the industry's donations provided 1,000,000 meals to help feed the hungry.
Feeding America serves over 60,000 food pantries and 200 food banks across the United States, making a significant difference in the lives of millions of people. This collaborative effort between the promotional products industry and ASI is a testament to the power of collective giving and the industry's commitment to making a positive impact in the world.
